The standing desk fad is based on a very considerable amount of research. Statistics show that, we spend more than six or more hours sitting down; shared between driving, watching TV and working at a desk. What’s also great is that standing desks provide you with the opportunity to stand and move about, and also leaves you a chance to get some of that activity that we all desire- standing desk or not.
Studies show that the accumulative effect of sitting all day for years is associated with a variety of health issues, like obesity, diabetes and cancer. Reading the research, I now know that sitting on my ass all day is the worst thing that I’m doing to my body, especially when I discovered that every minute I’m sitting, I burn a single miserable calorie. I got my first standing desk six months ago, and I’ve never looked back.

It’s also very vital that you take the time to ease into this new lifestyle to avoid extreme body pains or total disinterest. (something that I did not do, but I did not experience any major pain) They say that standing for a few hours daily at first while your body adjusts to the strain will help you ease into it. But once you have become accustomed to it, you’ll never go back!
